"I am interested in the Indian Ocean as a site of intersection of fragmented experiences and a multiplicity of histories"

Postgraduate Certificate (Fine Arts), Curtin University

Nicole Steenhof (b.1990) is a visual artist currently working with painting and sculpture based in Boorloo, Perth. Propelled by an interest in ocean studies, Steenhof works towards an embodied painting process, alert to sensations beyond sight. Her sculpture work is made from found and post consumer items, concentrating on form and connection to histories of oceans.

In her latest collection, she is developing ideas on how we engage with the agential life of the sea with tenderness, to relearn connection.

"I am exploring the idea of being a body of water among and within bodies of water"
